For Yannie, teaching Cantonese is more than a profession—it's a mission to preserve roots. With a degree in Chinese Literature and ten years of classroom experience, Yannie has always been fascinated by the "DNA" of language: Phonology(音韻學). During her university years, she specialized in linguistic structures, creating innovative ways to simplify complex sounds into practical tools that help students master clear, authentic speech.
Since moving to Canada, Yannie has dedicated herself to teaching Cantonese as a second or third language to students from SK to Grade 5 in local international schools. She works with a diverse range of children, from multi-ethnic families to second and third-generation immigrants.
Yannie understands that for children growing up overseas, language learning cannot rely on rote memorization. Instead, she believes in seizing the "Golden Age" of language acquisition to introduce the fundamentals of Jyutping (粵拼). By building this strong phonetic foundation early on, Yannie equips her students with the permanent tools they need to navigate their heritage.
